I'm not sure that the world is ready for this little Potato, but Potato Millie is definitely ready to find her forever family!

Potato Millie came to B-Squad after being released by a commercial breeding facility when she was an infant puppy due to having a cleft palate. She joined our neonate program and has been in one of our amazing medical homes since May and doing amazing! Millie does have a cleft palate that will require special care, a very specific type of dog kibble, and likely extra expenses for veterinary care for her life. Cleft palate aside... this girl is an absolute ham bone. She LOVES every single person she meets and greets them with a whole body wag! She hasn't fully mastered housetraining just yet, but she's incredibly smart and does best with a standard routine. Millie loves other dogs, but would do well as an only dog soaking up all the attention as well! Although she will never run marathons, this girl enjoys getting out, meeting people, and walking to smell all the things! Potato Millie will be a small English Bulldog as her parents were 35lbs and 55lbs respectively. We expect her to fall somehwere in between those weights when she is fully grown.

Now for the specialty care. Millie will need to eat the large breed kibble from Nutrisource for life. This is the ONLY kibble that is large enought that she doesn't have too much trouble getting food stuck in her palate. Millie does occassionally get food stuck in her mouth. When this happens, we utilize a soft childs toothbrush and gently try to remove the food from her palate. Most of the time, we can get this out on our own, but sometimes (4 visits over the last 5 months) we need to schedule a vet tech appt to have professional hands help us remove food and/or debris from her palate. These visits can vary from $30-$50 per visit. Extra help is sometimes needed as the tissue in her palate is very sensitive and we can't use anything hard to remove items as that may cause injury. Other than that, Millie drinks and eats from an elevated food dish and has been doing amazing!

ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Loving home that will continue to provide an enriched and healthy life for Potato Millie
  • Financially able to provide the extra veterinary care that her condition will require
  • Physically able to handle her to remove debris from her cleft palate with soft toothbruth
  • Physically fenced yard preferred but not required
  • Family willing to keep Potato Millie on her Nutrisource food for life (roughly $65/bag)

The adoption fee will include Millie's spay when age appropriate through our program at Best Care Pet Hospital. She is up to date on distemper, rabies, bordatella, and lepto. She has also been receiving preventions for flea/tick and heartworm and is microchipped. Please complete an application today if you think you can provide an amazing home for our very special little girl!
