Meet Lottie ��

2 years old | Female Long-Haired Chihuahua

Lottie’s journey to becoming a beloved family dog started with a pretty difficult chapter.

Lottie arrived at B-Squad on our July transport after leaving a commercial breeding facility. At just two years old, she had already experienced a traumatic emergency C-section with her first litter and was unable to care for her puppies. Her life as a breeding dog was over, and thankfully, a completely different life was waiting for her.

Once in our care, we made sure Lottie received everything she needed to start this next chapter healthy and comfortable. She has been spayed and received a dental, including the removal of two teeth.

And then came the really important part: learning how to simply be a dog. ❤️

Lottie can still be a little shy occasionally and sometimes chooses to curl up alone in her bed, but more and more each day, she wants to be cuddled and included with her foster mom and foster dog siblings.

She’s even developed the most adorable greeting. When she’s excited to see you, Lottie dances with her two front legs. ����

For such a tiny girl, she also has an impressive amount of determination. She recently watched her foster dog sisters navigating the stairs and apparently decided she was NOT going to be left behind. So Lottie taught herself how to do stairs just so she could follow them wherever they went.

And now that she’s getting comfortable, we’re discovering there’s a little bit of Chihuahua mischief hiding in there too. ��

When Lottie realizes her foster mom needs to leave the house and it’s time to go into her playpen, she occasionally decides that first they need to play a few rounds of “catch me if you can” around the kitchen table. Once she’s sufficiently entertained herself, she’ll cooperate.

That little bit of sass makes us smile because it means Lottie feels safe enough to have fun.

She’s learning. She’s trusting. She’s becoming more confident. And every day, we get to see a little more of the dog she was always meant to be.

Lottie would love a patient family who understands that she may need a little time to settle in and will continue encouraging her as she experiences all the things that come with being a cherished companion. Having another friendly dog in her foster home has helped show her the ropes, and she clearly enjoys being part of the pack.

After everything this little girl has experienced in her first two years, Lottie is finally getting to choose cuddles, play chase around the kitchen table, follow her friends up the stairs, and simply enjoy being a dog.

Now she just needs a family to continue the story. ��

Lottie has been spayed, received a dental while in our care, is up to date on age appropriate vaccinations including rabies, distemper, Bordetella, and lepto, has been started on monthly heart worm and flea/tick preventions, and is microchipped.
