Lani came to B-Squad with a litter of her own on board - and gave birth her first night in rescue. Lani was a wonderful, caring mom of four puppies who have all been adopted. Now that Lani is solo, she is enjoying soaking up all the attention for herself. She loves to love, and would snuggle her humans all day long if you'd let her. She enjoys being around people, recognizes voices, and loves to be held and have her tummy scratched. Lani has trouble seeing, due to being a double dapple, but we think she can see shadows - some days you'll find her jumping on to the couch and ottoman playing hot lava, and other days, she sticks to the areas of the house she knows best. Her perfect home would provide her consistency, helping her find her food/bed when she gets lost, and would have few stairs (or can help her when she can't get down). She's good with a dog door but does have an accident if she can't find it. She loves to run outside in a safe place and snuggle other dog.

Lani has been seen by an opthamologist and has been diagnosed with microphthalmos and lacrimal gland hypoplasia/aplasia OU. This means that Lani was born with disformed or small eyes, common in dachshunds when poorly bred. Lani also had dry eye and ocular discharge and will need to be on eye wash, ointments to retain her eyes. Lani has poor vision, but we do believe she can see some shadowing. 

ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS:

• Patient family to continue to work on confidence
• Resident dog to help guide her
• Physically fenced in yard to keep her safe.
