We are beyond excited to post this profile! Harrington or Harry J as his foster mom lovingly refers to him joined B-Squad in the spring of 2021. He has been surrendered to rescue due to having hydrocephalus (water on the brain). If left untreated... Harry would become neurologic and pass away. We had Harrington evaluated by the amazing Dr. Carpentier and her neurology team at AERCMN. It was determined that Harry would be a good candidate for a life saving stent surgery that would allow the fluid in his brain to drain into his abdomen. Harry had a successful procedure in June of 2021 and he has spent the last two years in rescue while he has grown for us to monitor his condition.
Harry recently had his 2 year check up with Dr. Carpentier and we are over the moon excited to say that he received his veterinary clearance for adoption! He is doing so well... and his prognosis with continued omeprazole (to help reduce the production of brain fluid) has given him a normal life expectancy!
Harry J is a charming fellow who has overcome many obstacles! He is smart and willing to learn new things. he is accustomed to being around other small dogs but can blossom as a solo pup as well! He loves to play with toys and to snuggle. He has so much joy and love to share with the right family!
ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS:
- Patient family that will continue to fulfill Harrington's physical and mental needs
- Family that understands his medical needs and agrees to provide his medication for life
- Harry's head is delicate and he cannot be involved in rough play or be around small children that may accidentally bob him on the head. He is not able to wear a regular collar as that may put pressure on the stent, but he can wear a loose fitting harness for walks.
- Physically fenced in yard to keep him safe, since collar wearing is not possible.
Harry has been neutered while in rescue and is up to date on all vacciantions, preventions, and is microchipped! Please complete an applciation to welcome him home today!
